Kate Brown and other state officials celebrated the state’s first day without most COVID-19 restrictions. “We took unprecedented action to accomplish an unprecedented mission to do everything we could to protect Oregonians and save lives,” Brown said at Providence Park Wednesday. “And as we do in the face of crisis, we Oregonians, we stepped up.” People must still wear masks on public transportation, in health care settings, at the airport, in prisons and in long-term care facilities. Also Wednesday, Oregon’s workplace safety division lifted masking and social distancing requirements for employers and employees.

That brings the state’s cumulative case count to 208,637 and the death toll to 2,774, according to the Oregon Health Authority. Marion County reported 12 new cases. Polk County reported eight new cases. Other counties’ new cases were: Baker (3), Clackamas (17), Clatsop (5), Crook (1), Curry (1),  Deschutes (7), Douglas (11), Harney (1), Hood River (2), Jackson (16), Jefferson (3), Josephine (5), Klamath (5), Lane (17), Linn (15), Malheur (2), Morrow (1), Multnomah (19), Tillamook (2), Umatilla (21), Union (6), Washington (11) and Yamhill (5).
