President Muhammadu Buhari has appealed to Nigerians to trust his administration in its efforts to “restore peace, security and prosperity” across Nigeria.
Mr Buhari stated this in his Christmas message to Nigerians sent to PREMIUM TIMES by his office.
“For me, providing security for all residents in the country remains an article of faith. It formed a vital segment of this Administration’s three-point agenda right from inception, and we must follow through with it,” he said.

President Muhammadu Buhari would not host dignitaries to the usual Christmas homage this year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A statement from the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, titled “President Buhari cancels Christmas homage”, said the decision was in line with COVID-19 safety protocols.
Normally, the Vice President and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory lead dignitaries to pay homage to the President during all major Christian and Muslim and festivals, including Christmas.
The statement issued by Shehu read, “In line with the prevailing protocol put in place by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, restricting large gatherings, President Muhammadu Buhari will not be hosting the usual Christmas homage by religious and community leaders in the Federal Capital Territory.

In line with the prevailing protocol put in place by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, restricting large gatherings, President Muhammadu Buhari will not be hosting the usual Christmas homage by religious and community leaders in the Federal Capital Territory.
The President urges all citizens to, in line with the prescribed protocol, observe social distancing, use face masks, wash hands frequently and avoid overcrowding of public spaces, markets, shopping centres, offices and places of worship.
President Buhari equally appeals to citizens to discourage all non-essential travels during the holiday season.
