Prospect Hospice takes care to the community and launches Join Together January

If you’re running a hospice during a pandemic, what do you do when most of your patients, their loved ones and others in the community can’t come into your hospice building anymore? Simple, say the end-of-life care specialists at Prospect Hospice – you take the hospice out into the community instead. Irene Watkins, chief executive of Prospect Hospice The Covid-19 crisis hasn’t stopped the Wroughton provider from delivering end-of-life care to patients and their families and loved ones. It’s just meant that the hospice has been taking far more of its expert services out into the community, and into people’s own homes.

Obituary: Colin Haydon - a pantomime performance sparked romance that lasted six decades

It was a romance that started in rehearsals for a youth pantomime and lasted for more than six decades. Colin Haydon spotted Margaret when he and his mates went to the youth centre to do gymnastics and show off to the girls. She was there playing table tennis, but she wasn’t impressed by his antics. It was only after she was cast as principal boy in a show that featured Colin and his brother Jack as tumblers that she really began to notice him. As the weeks went by the attraction flowered into a full-blown romantic connection that eventually led to a marriage lasting 61 years until Colin’s death.
