Every year, colleges are required to report the crimes that occur on or near their campuses.
Here are some of the takeaways for Utahâs eight public and two private colleges and universities, and where you can find your schoolâs newly released report for 2019.
1. New data shows a spike in cases of stalking among students across the state.
Reports of stalking jumped from 84 statewide in 2018 to 145 in 2019 â the single largest annual increase.
Advocates are encouraged, believing the numbers represent more victims coming forward â possibly spurred in part by the attention drawn by University of Utah student-athlete Lauren McCluskeyâs case. But the jump, they said, also likely means more crime is occurring.

Of all the reasons for the ups and downs of the stock market, weather is rarely given any credit. Certain meteorological events, like devastating hurricanes or tornadoes, obviously have at least a short-term effect on market events. But researchers have found correlations between the stock market and even more mundane aspects of the weather.
Everyday weather, like sunshine and temperature, may have noticeable impacts on market performance and the field of behavioral finance, which describes how psychology influences investor decisions, helps to explain this connection.
Weather, Emotions and the Market

The launch was originally scheduled to happen on Wednesday, Jan. 13, but was delayed because Virgin Orbit just had a bit more work (final checkouts, etc.) to complete, and we didn t want to rush anything, Kendall Russell, communications director for the company, wrote in an email to The Tribune.
The ExoCube 2 is a CubeSat device, a miniaturized satellite that was built over several years by a group of 50 Cal Poly students.

Tara Westover, author of Educated
An acclaimed memoir about a woman’s journey to education and autonomy will be the University of Kansas’ spring Common Book, and the author, Tara Westover, will participate in a related event.
Every year, KU chooses a Common Book to create a shared academic experience for students, faculty and staff. The KU Common Book program took a brief hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the university announced Tuesday that Westover’s “Educated” will be its Spring 2021 Common Book “Mini-Experience.”
“Educated,” a No. 1 New York Times bestseller, is about Westover’s upbringing by two survivalist parents who rejected formal education; despite having no high school diploma, Westover was eventually able to attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and Cambridge University in the United Kingdom.
