The events which ended in the murder of Thembinkosi Thabethe allegedly by a man who lived in the same estate were sparked by a WhatsApp message addressed to the accused s wife.
Leon Coetzee, 55, who is accused of murdering Thabethe, appeared in the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Wednesday, where he applied for bail.
According to the State, Coetzee stabbed Thabethe three times outside his home in Green Acres Estate, Montana, Pretoria, on 26 April.
This was after Thabethe allegedly went to Coetzee s home at around 21:00.
Thabethe died in hospital on 1 May.

Four suspects aged between 25 and 32 were arrested on the Simon Vermooten off-ramp in Silverton.
It’s reported that information received was operationalised by the members of Tactical Operations Management Section of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation with the assistance of Crime Intelligence, Tracker Connect, Special Task Force, and the SAPS Airwing. The team observed the identified vehicle on the N4 west. The suspects tried to evade the team by driving into the residential areas and back onto the N4 but the team kept on their heels. The suspects collided with a pole on Rossouw Street but kept on driving. On Simon Vermooten off-ramp, the team successfully cornered the suspects and they all were arrested. The suspects’ vehicle is reported to have been hijacked in Acornhoek in February this year. Two cellphones, a gate remote, and heavy-duty gloves were recovered inside the vehicle.
Multimillion Eskom fraud case delayed Kgomotso Medupe ~.
THE multimillion-rand Eskom corruption and fraud case against Hudson Kgomoeswana has been postponed to 4 August for trial.
Kgomoeswana briefly appeared in Pretoria Magistrates Court on Thursday, 15 April, facing charges of tax evasion valued at R5 million.
The charges were discovered during the investigation into the Eskom R745 million Kusile Power Station corruption case.
The Limpopo businessman and his company are accused of facilitating bribes in the fraud and corruption matter.
He is currently out on R300 000 bail.
In the tax matter, he is charged with his company Babinatlou Business Services, for evading income tax and company tax between 2016 and 2018.
ISIBAYA actress Zinhle Mabena appeared in the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 16 March.
Mabena was present for three cases that her enstranged husband Robert Ngwenya filed against her.
The cases of theft and malicious damage to property were thrown out, while the case of assault is pending.
Mabena’s lawyer Joshua Shapiro confirmed to the SunTeam that Mabena was in court and that the two cases were indeed thrown out.
“I can confirm that Zinhle was in court today and there were three cases. Two of the cases were nolle prosequi. The prosecutor dismissed those cases,” he said.
“The other matter, we’re waiting for the police and the prosecution to provide us with the contents of the docket in order to look at the matter. But at this stage, we can’t say much on that matter,” said Shapiro.
