In the heat of tackling a scourge like corruption in our social fabric, the decision to post Special Public Prosecutors (SPPs) for conducting the trials exclusively of such cases which are filed under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act , on the face of it, is beyond creating scope of any type of speculation and shows the eagerness of the UT Government through the aegis of Home Department in ensuring that the corrupt got punished as early as possible. Prosecution of corruption cases, it has generally been observed, is not , however, that easy for various reasons. JAMMU, May 14: A decision of the Home Department regarding posting of separate Special Public Prosecutors for conducting the trials exclusively of the cases filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act even in those districts where no separate Special Courts to deal with such matters, has backfired and chocking working of the normal courts.
This has been observed by the Principal Sessions Judge Udhampur Y P Bourney while dealing with an application seeking grant of bail to an under-trial on extreme health grounds.
The applicantâRattan Singh, son of Teju Ram of Gordi village of Ramnagar tehsil of Udhampur district had filed an application for admitting him on bail on health and medical grounds. Upon the receipt of motion, the notice was given to the Public Prosecutor calling upon him to file the objections.

The Principal Sessions Court in Chennai on Wednesday convicted and sentenced six persons, including a woman, to life imprisonment for the murder of an advocate in Kodamabakkam in 2016.
According to the prosecution, the deceased C. Murugan, 40, was a practising advocate in the Madras High Court and a legal consultant with a film production company. On June 5, 2016, when he went to look for a rental house at an apartment complex in Trustpuram, he was encircled by a gang of men who came on a motorcycles and hacked him to death. The gang fled the spot.

After Vipinlal, the first approver in the sensational actor rape case, Vishnu, another accused, has approached the court seeking permission for becoming an approver.
Vishnu, tenth accused, approached the special court considering the case on Thursday, offering to admit his role in the crime booked against him and reveal all facts that he knew about the case.
He was accused of smuggling a mobile phone to the jail, which he handed over to Sunilkumar, aka ‘Pulser’ Suni, first accused.
