AAA A sessions court in Chengalpattu convicted and sentenced a 41-year-old man to life imprisonment for murdering his employer in 2012.
According to the Sankar Nagar police, on June 30, 2012, Yovan Fernandes, 71, was strangulated to death and was lying on the terrace of her house in Anna Nagar, Pammal. Investigation revealed that Sivakumar, 41, who worked as a domestic aid in her house, had stolen cash from the house. He was arrested by the police on the family s complaint and sent to jail for alleged theft.
To take revenge, he decided to murder her, and he came to the house when Yovan Fernandes was alone.

The Principal Sessions Court in Chennai on Wednesday convicted and sentenced six persons, including a woman, to life imprisonment for the murder of an advocate in Kodamabakkam in 2016.
According to the prosecution, the deceased C. Murugan, 40, was a practising advocate in the Madras High Court and a legal consultant with a film production company. On June 5, 2016, when he went to look for a rental house at an apartment complex in Trustpuram, he was encircled by a gang of men who came on a motorcycles and hacked him to death. The gang fled the spot.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a Prosecution Complaint under PMLA against former AIADMK Minister B V Ramana in connection with the Gutkha scam. The ED also filed complaint against S Vignesh, Proprietor, Annamalai Industries, officers of Tamilnadu Police, Food Safety Department, State & Central GST & others in Principal Sessions Court, Chennai in Gutka Scam among others. ED stated that illegal manufacture and sale of Gutkha products in Tamil Nadu between 2013 and 2016 had yielded a turnover of Rs 639.40 crore. ED has registered a case under the provisions of PMLA against unknown officials of State and Central Government, Public servants and others for misuse of Official position by Criminal conspiracy and demand of illegal gratification, based on a FIR filed by the CBI, New Delhi.

A Division Bench gave the order in a habeas corpus plea filed by parents of Tittu Jerome, convicted in the Kevin murder case, alleging torture by Thiruvananthapuram Poojappura central prison officials against their son.

Taking serious note of the allegations that a life convict was tortured in the central prison, the Kerala High Court on Friday directed the Thiruvananthapuram District Magistrate and District Medical Officer to visit the jail in the state capital and report on his condition.
