Synopsis Sinha, a retired IAS officer of 1977 batch, was appointed as Principal Advisor to the Prime Minister in September 2019, after a brief stint as an officer on special duty (OSD). A person familiar with the development said Sinha had relinquished his position for ‘personal reasons.’ PK Sinha is learned to have stepped down from the post of Principal Advisor to the Prime Minister on Monday. His name is no longer visible in the list of officers on the Prime Minister’s Office’s (PMO) website. Sinha didn’t respond to a text message sent by ET. Emails sent to OSD (Communications and IT) at the PMO and the Principal Director General of the Press Information Bureau did not elicit a response.

Right to dissent is central, says P Sainath in IMC report

Committee of Secretaries (CoS), on January 11, had shortlisted names for the CBDT members among 10 contenders. According to sources, after that meeting, CoS has shortlisted three names for the post of the members. After that, it was sent to the DoPT for approval. If sources are to be believed then 1984 batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Rashmi Saxena Sahni and 1985 batch IRS officers JB Mohapatra and Anuja Sarangi are going to be the next three new board members. They are amongst the most senior officers in the income tax department.
