Earlier today, customers and vendors in the Barbados Association of Retailers Vendors and Entrepreneurs (BARVEN) market on the Mighty Grynner Highway braved the cloud of ash which hung heavily across the island.
Head of BARVEN Alistair Alexander said they had a duty to supply Barbadians with food and that is what they came out to do. He added they would not be out for as long as customary, given the waning visibility.
At the Bridgetown Fisheries Complex on Princess Alice Highway, vendors were busily trying to sell fish to last minute customers over the fence, as the guards closed the gate stopping people from entering.

The offices of Barbados Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (BADMC) at Fairy Valley Plantation House, Christ Church; Building #7, Grantley Adams Industrial Park, Christ Church; and Princess Alice Highway, Bridgetown, St Michael will be temporarily closed from today.
The BADMC apologises for any inconvenience caused and expects the offices will reopen on Monday, March 8.
