Bad news for any eager cruisegoers: cruise lines are continuing to extend cruising suspensions into 2021 as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.
The cruising industry initially saw a quiet period after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention posted and extended its no-sail order as the coronavirus pandemic began surging in 2020. LOS ANGELES (CNS) A couple is suing Santa Clarita-based Princess Cruises, alleging they contracted the coronavirus while in quarantine after a cruise aboard the Grand Princess last winter.
Allen and Mary Stobaugh brought the suit Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging intentional battery and negligence. They seek unspecified compensatory and punitive damages.
A Princess Cruises representative could not be immediately reached for comment.
Before the Stobaughs boarded the Grand Princess in San Francisco on Feb. 21, Princess Cruises knew that a passenger on the previous trip which had just ended in San Francisco had likely exposed the ship s passengers and crew members to COVID-19 and that many of the same passengers and crew would be on the plaintiff s trip, the suit alleges.
