Maybe it’s just that I’m at home more now. This lockdown has resulted in the Community Care staff working from home offices much of the time. I have a fabulous view of the back yard from my home office and it’s a veritable parade of critters out that window. Perhaps the animals have always been around my house in such numbers and I just wasn’t here to see them.
The fox prances by regularly. It has blotches of black on it’s body amidst the reddish fur and bushy tail. That fox trots along as if it’s going somewhere in particular. Recently it had a large mouse dangling from its mouth and was likely heading somewhere to have lunch.

This third wave is getting everybody down. Even before the stay at home order was extended it was beginning to show how much people are affected. When Community Care staff have a meeting – which is twice a week – we often start with one word on how we’re feeling. Positive and uplifting words have been replaced with the noncommittal “good” and sometimes with “overwhelmed”.
The only way to the other side is to get through this and we’re all in it together. I field the calls that come in about vaccinations and my response is always, keep calling the appointment number, we all have to be patient, your turn will come. Patience can be hard to muster up when we’re feeling low.
