1 dead after hit-and-run in Prince George s County; police seek information

64-year-old Alvin W. Freeland Jr. of Lothian, MD was struck by a dark-colored sedan around 9:30 p.m. in the 5700 block of Allentown Road. Investigators believe Freeland was lying in the roadway when the hit-and-run occurred.
The car and suspect did not remain on the scene and Freeland was pronounced dead on the scene.

A person is dead and three others were taken to the hospital after a two-car crash in Prince George’s County, Maryland, Sunday.
The collision happened around 5:30 p.m. Sunday on Mike Shapiro Drive near Old Alexandria Ferry Road in the Clinton neighborhood.
Prince George’s County Police said one adult died at the scene, and three others were seriously injured.
Paramedics took the child, teenager and adult to the hospital where they are expected to survive.
No arrests were made after the crash and the cause is unknown.

LANDOVER HILLS, Md. Detectives with the Prince George s County Police Department and the Prince George s County Fire/EMS Department are investigating the death of a man who they say was found dead in an SUV in Landover.
On May 1, Prince George s County first responders were called to the 6500 block of Columbia Park Road just before 6 p.m. for reports of a driver who was believed to be dead inside an SUV.
The preliminary investigation conducted by Prince George s County Police suggests the SUV had just struck an unoccupied parked car before ultimately hitting a fence. The SUV then caught on fire, police said.
Melinda Riley and Chambers met Beale while they were all students at Howard University.
Riley described Beale as a “beacon of light.” She is now the guardian of Beale’s son Dwayne, who has autism and is in 11
th grade in Prince George’s County. Riley has set up a donation page to raise money for his needs.
“It’s a village of us that are helping to make sure that he is continued to be raised in the way that Keya would want him to be, and to meet, if not exceed, the goals that she had for him in life,” Riley said.
