Canelo Alvarez, by and large, is the most praised fighter in the world at the moment. The Mexican star is widely considered as the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the sport, his skillset has often drawn comparisons to some of the all-time greats and his placement in the boxing Hall of Fame is seemingly solidified the moment he hangs up his gloves.
Yet, no matter how many superlative words are thrown in his direction, Caleb Plant simply doesn’t believe that Alvarez is anywhere near his level.
“It’s been a long time coming where I felt like, there’s things that I hold over him,” said Plant during an interview with Fight Hub TV. “He just can’t f ck with me. There’s a list of things that Canelo cannot do better than me.”

Undefeated super bantamweight champions Luis “Pantera” Nery and Brandon “Heartbreaker” Figueroa faced off Thursday at the final press conference before their world title clash live on SHOWTIME this Saturday, May 15 in a Premier Boxing Champions event from Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
The press conference also featured former unified super bantamweight champion Danny Roman and hard-hitting Ricardo Espinoza, who meet in the 10-round co-main event, plus undefeated super featherweight contender Xavier Martinez and former world title challenger Juan Carlos Burgos, who duel in a 10-round showdown that kicks off the telecast at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
Canelo: The journey continues
Billy Joe Saunders was a stop along the way for the best fighter and biggest star in boxing, Canelo Alvarez, writes Thomas Hauser
BOXING is going through a difficult time. Fights between elite fighters are few and far between. Bogus “world championship” belts have devalued the sport. Contests involving social media influencers and exhibitions by long-past-their-prime former champions often get more media attention and fan support than legitimate fights. The negotiations to make Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua (or fail to make it) have been an exercise in frustration. In the midst of all this, Canelo Alvarez gives boxing fans something to hold onto.

Saunders (30-1, 14 KO) will surely be back, as an orbital bone injury thought to be broken forced his corner to stop the fight after eight rounds. But he won’t be right back against Canelo, and there is only one name on the Mexican superstar’s mind right now as far as what’s next.
That would be Caleb Plant, the IBF titleholder and the man holding the last piece of the 168 lb puzzle. Canelo stated clearly that that’s his plan as far as what’s next, and promoter Eddie Hearn though his deal with Canelo just ended, they could keep working together, the results have been pretty good said it’s the “only” fight to make.
