The force has been divided into six zones spanning from the east to the west of the state and was being controlled by local police commanders, Commissioner Patton said.
The six zones established for patrols were around Swan Hill, Echuca, Yarrawonga, Wodonga and Cann River, near the NSW border.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews is returning to work after spending more than three months in recovery following a fall at a Mornington Peninsula holiday rental.
The premier held a press conference at 10:30 a.m. on June 28 to update Victorians on the Metro Tunnel project, one of his government’s key infrastructure projects that have since blown out by nearly $3 billion, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).
In a video posted on June 27, Andrews detailed how he fell when he was getting ready for work on March 9 and then taken to hospital where he learned of his injury an acute compression fracture of the T7 vertebra as well as several broken ribs.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews is set to return to work on Monday the 28th June after more than three and a half months of sick leave following a severe back injury.
Acting Premier James Merlino stepped up to guide Victoria s fourth lockdown but there is a question as to whether Mr Andrews will return to full duties.

Mr Merlino also said a major operation was underway to ensure nobody entered Victoria illegally.
Licence plate technology and booze buses are being used to monitor people entering the state from NSW. Victoria Police so far are reporting a high level of compliance, people who try to cross the border without the appropriate permits are being turned around, Mr Merlino said.
More than 200 officers have been deployed to the border to prevent anyone unlawfully entering Victoria.
Testing Commander Jeroen Weimar said close contacts of a Virgin crew member who tested positive for COVID-19 had been identified and authorities were working quickly.
The Andrews government is actively considering shutting the border to New South Wales entirely, as well as parts of Queensland and WA, with a national security meeting to discuss the spread of COVID-19 on Monday.
