(P.E.I. Legislative Assembly)
A controversial change to the way the Prince Edward Island government plans to run a long-awaited mobile mental-health crisis service dominated question period in the provincial legislature Friday.
The province plans to have three mobile units one based in each of P.E.I. s counties able to respond to people experiencing a mental health crisis, along with a 24-hour phone line as a first point of contact for those in distress. The units will operate 12 hours a day, from noon until midnight, and are to be staffed by a mental health professional, a plain-clothes police officer and a paramedic.

Liberal MLA Gordon McNeilly says Deacon House has been neglected.(Gordon McNeilly) comments
A Liberal MLA on P.E.I. says there is government neglect in addiction services in the province. I won t dwell on each one, but I ll point out one, said Gordon McNeilly in the legislature Friday. Absolute neglect of Deacon House. I recently visited Deacon House and had an opportunity to tour the shelter.
Deacon House is an emergency shelter in Charlottetown for men dealing with addiction.
The shelter is managed by Health PEI, McNeilly said.
In the legislature Friday, McNeilly asked P.E.I. Premier Dennis King to apologize for the level of neglect at the facility for men dealing with addiction.(Legislative Assembly of P.E.I.)
