Queensland Health authorities hint lockdown will ease as they record 27 new local cases
Chief Health Officer Doctor Jeannette Young has hinted Queensland could emerge from lockdown on Sunday after the latest figures showed they were in front of the virus.

Queensland Chief Health Officer Doctor Jeannette Young did not expect to be this far in front of the outbreak as she indicated the state is doing brilliantly . The fact we only had five days of people being infectious in the community so between four people out and about in the community for five days while infectious, she said.

The 31-year-old Burpengary man was issued with a $1378 fine after he was found at North Lakes walking outdoors.
The man told officers he was on his way to take some pictures with friends.

It comes as Queensland was plunged into a lockdown on July 31 as they combatted a growing Covid cluster.
The only reasons residents are able to leave home is to obtain essential goods within 10km of their home, for essential work, school or childcare, to exercise with one person within 10km of their home or for healthcare.
Southeast Queensland residents are being urged to stay at home after 16 new locally acquired cases of the Delta variant of COVID-19 were recorded in Brisbane.

Despite being announced this morning that Brisbane s Ekka Public Holiday will be postponed, some neighbouring councils will still go ahead with their public holiday next week.
Deputy Premier Steven Miles announced the Wednesday, August 11 date would be pushed back to sometime later in the year .
Neighbouring Scenic Rim, Moreton and Ipswich councils announced they would be following suit.
Both Logan and Redlands City Councils will still go on with their long weekends.
