Routine screenings are important in fight against cancer

Routine screenings are important in fight against cancer The Daily Jeffersonian Cancer screening saves lives, but over the past year many Americans postponed their routine screening appointments due to the COVID pandemic. February is National Cancer Prevention Month, and now is the time to get those appointments back on the books. As a member of the Congressional Families Cancer Prevention Program, I am sharing this vital information. It is estimated that 1.9 million Americans will be diagnosed with cancer and 608,570 will die from these diseases in 2021. In Ohio alone, an estimated 73,230 will be diagnosed and 25,140 will die of cancer this year. These statistics do not consider the impact caused by COVID-19. Although fewer people were diagnosed with cancer in early 2020, unfortunately more late-stage diagnoses and deaths are expected in the next few months and years due to delayed screenings and treatment.

AGDQ and Adapting to the Pandemic and Online Environment

By  January 27, 2021 11:00 AM EST AGDQ 2021 wasn t the first online GDQ event and it certainly won t be the last, and it s showed how the events are adapting to the Covid era. But whereas these events are self-congratulatory, one series of events instead looks outwards. Games Done Quick, otherwise known as GDQ, is an organization that regularly hosts gaming marathons. Donations are open during the course of these marathons, with every cent going towards one charity or another. But like everything else in today’s world, Games Done Quick events have had to change to fit the Covid-19 era.
