BREAKING: Congress Agrees to Save Our Stages
Maybe holiday miracles can happen after all. Congress announced Sunday that it reached a deal to distribute the $900 billion stimulus deal to send aid to American citizens and businesses affected by the pandemic including the Save Our Stages bill which will provide around $10 billion in relief to independent music venues that have been almost entirely shuttered since March.
“We can finally report what our nation has needed to hear for a very long time, More help is on the way,” stated Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell Sunday night, according to the New York Times.

NEW ORLEANS It’s a holiday delivery, New Orleans style. For Ronell Johnson, it’s more than just about doing what he loves, which is play the trombone.
“Bringing joy to people, there it is,” said Johnson.
It’s part of Preservation Hall’s HALLiday Gram project. For $250, a Preservation Hall musician will show up with a two-song performance. It’s a way to bring personalized musical joy to people, while financially helping musicians like Johnson, who’s been out of work because of the pandemic.

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Preservation Hall today announced members of its musical collective will deliver “Preservation HALLiday Gram” merchandise packages for orders delivered in Orleans and Jefferson Parishes from Friday, Dec. 18, to Wednesday, Dec. 23. Preservation HALLiday Grams are $250 apiece and are comprised of Preservation Hall tees, a holiday drum ornament, a stationary notepad, coozies, pins, a postcard, and a two-song, porch-side musical performance from a Preservation Hall musician.
A Preservation Hall store representative will contact recipients to schedule the delivery and musical visit to take place between Dec. 18 and Dec. 23, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. CDT. A valid Orleans or Jefferson Parish delivery address and current recipient contact information is required.
