Biddeford, Saco and OOB participate in drug take-back day Saturday

The Saco Police Department at 20 Storer St. and Saco Community Center at 75 Franklin St., the Biddeford Public Works Department at 371 Hill St. and the Old Orchard Beach Police Department 16E Emerson Cummings Blvd. are among a number of Maine locations that are participating in National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“Unused prescription drugs that collect in our homes can fall into the wrong hands, creating unintended gateways to opioid addiction. Jacksonville Police Department and Memorial Behavioral Health will work together Saturday to host Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
Sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Prescription Drug Take Back Day gives people a chance to safely dispose of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. Throwing prescription drugs in the trash or flushing them down the toilet common methods of getting rid of unwanted medications can pose health risks and environmental dangers.
The service is free and anonymous; no questions will be asked.
Staff members will be at the police department from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to collect unwanted prescription drugs in a drive-through set-up. Liquids and needles will not be accepted.
