: Tuesday, April 6, 2021, 7:18 PM IST Mumbai: Societies with more than 5 active cases to be sealed - check out BMC s guidelines for implementation of micro containment zones FPJ Photo Amid a massive rise in COVID-19 cases in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued guidelines and said that the co-operative societies having more than five active COVID-19 patients shall be sealed and treated as micro-containment zones. In such societies, e-commerce deliveries including delivery of newspapers, food items, essential items, etc. shall not be delivered beyond the Society Office of the building. If the given guidelines aren t followed, the society shall be fined Rs. 10,000 in the first instance by BMC officials. Any subsequent default shall attract a fine of Rs. 20,000 for every subsequent instance.

The ROBs will ease up traffic and offer direct connectivity from Saat Rasta to Haji Ali Junction and Worli Naka. According to a report, the tree authority of BMC had given the nod to felling of a total 1,234 trees in all for various infrastructure projects in December last year. Local residents expressed dissatisfaction over the felling of trees. Advocate Godfrey Pimenta said that the environmental destruction being done by the cutting of full-grown trees is irreversible and irreparable. This should not have been allowed in larger public interest, he added.

: Tuesday, March 16, 2021, 9:01 PM IST Mumbai: Amid surge in COVID-19 cases, BMC directs all school teachers, staff to work from home PTI File Photo Mumbai: In an attempt to contain the spread of Covid-19 infection, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday directed school teachers and staff to work from home and continue online teaching-learning from March 17, 2021, onwards till further notice. This decision will be applicable to all schools of Mumbai irrespective of their boards and management, and strict action will be taken against schools that violate this direction. The BMC education department released a circular dated March 16, 2021 stating, Teaching and non-teaching staff of primary, secondary and higher secondary schools of all boards and managements should continue to conduct e-learning, online education and work from home from March 17 onwards till further notice. Teachers should continue their work from home and submit daily reports via Google forms
