Maharashtra reports 22,122 COVID-19 cases, 42,320 recoveries
Maharashtra recorded as many as 22,122 coronavirus cases on Monday, taking the tally of infections in the state to 55,79,897, the death toll increased to 88,620 with 594 new fatalities.Â
As many as 42,320 patients were discharged from hospitals, taking the number of recovered patients to 51,82,592, The number of active cases stands at 3,27,580.
Mumbai adds 1,057 new COVID-19 cases
Mumbai reported 1,057 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, down 374 from a day ago, taking the tally to 6,98,867, while 48 patients succumbed to the infection and more than 1,300 recovered, the city civic body said.
According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation s (BMC) updated data, 48 fresh fatalities took the toll to 14,671.

In a bid to help homeless persons hit by the pandemic, housing rights activists have complied a list of shelters in Mumbai.

BMC collects more than ₹48 crore in fines from mask rule violators

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has collected more than ₹48 crore in fines since April 2020 from people for not wearing masks amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The civic body had announced that it would be deploying special squads for this purpose.
While the BMC has collected ₹48,28,80,800, the Mumbai Police have collected ₹6,77,01,800 from errant citizens. Violators on the three railway lines the Western Line, Harbour Line and Central Line have coughed up fines worth ₹50,39,200.
Among six zones in Mumbai, the highest fines worth ₹8,54,66,900 came from zone II comprising Dadar and Vadala in central Mumbai while zone IV, which comprises Andheri, Goregaon and Malad, ranked second with a fine collection of ₹7,97,87,400.
