Mumbai, July 18 : Massive rains pounded Mumbai in many places measuring over 20 cms (200 mm), paralysing road and rail traffic, all through the night, officials said here on Sunday.
The Western Railway suburban services were stopped completely due to flooding on tracks at most places in the city and surrounding and many outstation trains were stuck at various locations.

Mumbai, Maharashtra: As many as 11 people were killed after a wall collapsed on some shanties in Chembur s Bharat Nagar area in Mumbai due to a landslide, said National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Sunday.
As per Mumbai s fire brigade team that also reached the incident site, 16 persons were rescued from the debris of the wall collapse in Chembur.
Rescue operations for the people trapped are underway, said NDRF.
Following incessant rains in Maharashtra s Mumbai, several parts of the city reported waterlogging on Sunday.

Prime Minister s Office (PMO) announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each for families of the deceased in Mumbai s wall collapse incidents.
An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh has been announced for next of kin of the deceased in wall collapse incidents in Mumbai s Vikhroli and Chembur area on Sunday by the Prime Minister s Office (PMO). Financial assistance of Rs 50,000 for those injured in the incidents has also been announced from Prime Minister s National Relief Fund (PMNRF). Rs 2 lakh each from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of those who lost their lives due to wall collapses in Mumbai. Rs. 50,000 would be given to those injured, PMO said in a tweet.

The death toll from the wall collapses of houses due to the landslides in Mumbai s Chembur and Vikhroli areas on Sunday mounted to 24. Waterlogging on streets and railway tracks was also reported in parts of Mumbai and its suburbs.

A total of 24 people died in two different incidents of wall collapse due to landslides in Mumbai s Chembur and Vikhroli areas on Sunday.
