Criminal justice program may expand area drug testing | News, Sports, Jobs

wscott@heraldstaronline.com WELLSBURG The Northern Panhandle Community Criminal Justice Board may make drug testing available, for a fee, for people outside its alternative sentencing programs. The Brooke County Commission, on Tuesday, authorized the board to pursue the move, which is pending approval by the commissioners of the other local counties that financially support it. The Brooke County Commission provides $30,000 to the board, which oversees criminal offenders sentenced to home confinement, community service and local day report centers. In many cases, those individuals are ordered by courts to undergo periodic drug testing at the day report centers, including one in Weirton.
