After plans for a brewery fell through at the site of an old Brookland Park Boulevard carwash, one of the neighborhood’s biggest developers has brewed up something new of the mixed-use variety.
Cory Weiner’s CW Performance Group is planning two separate mixed-use projects at 310 and 322 W. Brookland Park Blvd.

The two buildings will add a total of 12 apartments and 7,000 square feet of commercial space to two surface lots on the combined one-quarter-acre site, which Weiner acquired for a total of $50,000 in 2018.

RICHMOND, Va. The pickup driver charged in a double fatal crash on Thanksgiving has been denied bond.
A Manchester General District Court judge, after hearing arguments from both the Commonwealth and Defense, made that decision Friday.
As a young boy, Dan Rowe once got his head stuck in the chimney as he went searching for Santa Claus at his home in Richmondâs Barton Heights.
âDan was probably 5 or 6,â recalled his older sister, Jane Rowe List. âHe wanted to see how Santa could get down the chimney. He got in the fireplace and tried to stand up. We had to get help getting him out.â
That mini-calamity might be viewed as a remarkable bit of foreshadowing. Years later, generations of children went looking for Santa and found Rowe â spying first his feet as they came into view in the fireplace, his black boots dangling playfully for a few seconds before the rest of the man in the red suit emerged amid jingling bells, sending already excited small children one exit beyond frenzy.
Walk into Nomadâs Deli a stranger, walk out a member of the Nomadâs family.
Nomadâs is a funky little eatery nestled in the heart of Richmondâs North Side, at 207 W. Brookland Park Blvd. At this neighborhood joint, hearty cheesesteaks are the house specialty, as are any of the large subs and sandwiches that owner Anthony Tucker slings behind the counter.
Thereâs the five-meat âHog Rideâ or the Nomadâs signature, featuring grilled potatoes, onions and peppers, plus bacon and Nomad sauce and a choice of meats or fried fish. His breakfast sandwiches are available all day and equally as popular are the vegan and vegetarian specials â black bean burgers, big fried eggplant, quinoa salads and more.

LaMar Dixon isn’t giving up on his long-promised business incubator, even if the building it was planned for remains in legal limbo.
The local real estate agent and principal of Dixon/Lee Development Group is preparing to open Capital Station, an incubator for first-time entrepreneurs, at 1322 W. Broad St. The VCU-area storefront is about a mile from the facility’s originally intended location in the former American National Bank Building at 201 W. Brookland Park Blvd.
