The work was expected to continue into Monday. And alternate side parking rules have been suspended through December 26th for snow removal operations, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced in a tweet that did not sit well with New Yorkers who want the city to focus its snow removal efforts on bike lanes and other public pedestrian areas leaving dangerous, ankle-deep snow and slush at each street corner.

History comes home: Piece of USS Arizona to arrive for display in Havasu

For almost 80 years, the U.S.S. Arizona has rested beneath the waves of coastal Hawaii, where it remained as a memorial to an American tragedy. Now, a piece of that history is coming - literally - to Lake Havasu City. The U.S.S. Arizona was commissioned in 1916, and named in recognition of Arizona’s recent admission into the United States. The battleship launched from the U.S. Navy’s Brooklyn Naval Yard in 1915, and saw deployment to Turkey in 1919. It was transferred to the U.S. Pacific Fleet in California, before the fleet was ultimately transferred to Pearl Harbor in 1940.
