According to CBS2’s Cooper was taken into police custody on Sunday for a separate incident. He appeared in Brooklyn Criminal Court on Tuesday for allegedly choking and punching his girlfriend at an apartment building on 51st Street in East Flatbush.

Sources say the victim told police Cooper misunderstood something she said. The judge ordered him to be held on $3,000 bail. Following the viral video, Cooper was brought to the 32nd Precinct in Harlem and is expected to be charged in the attack outside the liquor store.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. A New Brighton resident, accused of shooting at another man in his community earlier this year, was sentenced Monday, under a plea agreement, to 364 days in jail.
Timothy Linares, 33, fired multiple shots around 10:19 p.m. last Feb. 23 near the corner of Cassidy Place and Lafayette Avenue, police said.
