De Blasio likes Eric Adams’ “story.” Mayor Bill de Blasio met last week with key labor leaders the presidents of District Council 37, the Hotel Trades Council and 32BJ SEIU to discuss the race to replace him, and to voice concern about the impact of “a Bloomberg-like type that would undo or would regress the city back 10, 12 years,”

They re Trying to Kill Us directed by Keegan Kuhn and John Lewis is a documentary that focuses on connecting the dots between diet, disease, poverty, systemic racism, and industry collusion, and NBA star Chris Paul and superstar Billie Eilish have just been revealed as two executive producers behind the movie.
The film highlights the systemic racism that has brought a disproportionate amount of fast food and alcohol into underserved communities, which ultimately causes death and disease. In the three-minute teaser trailer, Dr. Michael Greger explains that The alcohol industry, fast-food industries, tobacco industries target communities of color.
Brooklyn councilmembers Brad Lander and Antonio Reynoso have partnered before, advocating for reforms across the city over the last eight years in the city council. Now, term-limited, they seek to become the city’s next Comptroller and Brooklyn Borough President, respectively, and are endorsing each other, the two progressive legislators announced today.

Lander, who represents Park Slope, Carroll Gardens, and Cobble Hill as well as Kensington and Borough Park, brought participatory budgeting to NYC, and introduced legislation resulting in better tracking of expenditures across NYC’s parks, more effective ways to measure and combat poverty, and improvements to the city’s capital projects management.

How Will the Next Brooklyn Borough President Improve Community Boards?
Candidates want to give the boards more money, training and power.
“Look, I think community boards have huge issues with them that need a lot of reform.”
That’s how Brooklyn Borough President candidate Antonio Reynoso began his response to a question about community boards at a virtual forum last night.
The borough president has relatively limited power, but the office does directly control the appointment of members to the borough’s 18 community boards, neighborhood bodies that take advisory votes on issues ranging from rezonings to bike lanes to liquor licenses.
