Replay Video UP NEXT The House on Wednesday approved a measure creating an independent commission to investigate the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, with some rank-and-file Republicans even voting with Democrats in defiance of their party leaders who warned against the effort. The bill passed 252-175, with 35 Republicans voting with Democrats. There was applause in the chamber as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the totals and closed the vote. the measure now heads to the Senate, where its fate is uncertain. Ahead of the vote, House Democratic leaders argued that they had made several concessions to Republicans to reach a compromise, with Pelosi saying GOP leaders have raised last-minute objections because they re afraid of the truth.

FORT KNOX, Ky. Custodial services at multiple Army installations, including Fort Knox, were recently reduced for budgetary reasons, raising some concerns for nonprofits like Global Connections to Employment.
GCE employs people with disabilities and veterans, giving folks who may struggle to find work a chance to live more independently. The nonprofit has been on base at Fort Knox for about a decade and currently employs 103 people.

The 2nd District is the home of the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln, Mammoth Cave National Park and Fort Knox. The district covers Fort Knox, Owensboro, Bowling Green and Danville.
Before entering Congress and the workforce, Guthrie graduated in 1987 from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and went on to serve as a Field Artillery Officer in the 101st Airborne Division – Air Assault at Fort Campbell.
Since being in Congress, Guthrie has supported several bills aimed at improving services for veterans and voted for the VA MISSION Act to streamline and improve community care available to veterans. The VA MISSION Act by former president Donald Trump was signed into law in June 2018.
