SUMNER, Iowa (KCRG) - The driver of a car was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Saturday, according to law enforcement officials. At around 5:33 a.m., the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office was sent to a report of a crash near the corner of 160th Street and Y Avenue, located south of Sumner. Deputies believe that a car, operated by Carter Cannon, 18, of Hawkeye, was traveling northbound on Y Avenue and went into the ditch. His vehicle then hit a culvert, causing it to flip onto its top on 160th Street and catch fire.

BREMER COUNTY, Iowa (KWWL) The Bremer County Sheriff s Office is reporting that an 18-year-old was killed in a single-vehicle accident early Saturday morning. The crash happened on April 3 just after 5:30 a.m. about 20 miles northeast of Waterloo, Iowa. Eighteen-year-old Carter Cannon, of Hawkeye, has been identified as the victim. Cannon was driving a Pontiac Grand Prix north when her vehicle went into the ditch. The Prix hit a culvert, landed on its top on a nearby street and caught fire. Cannon was the only one in the vehicle.

The accident occurred last Friday morning shortly after 10am at the intersection of Highway 63 and 160 th Street, just west of Tripoli. According to the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office, a tanker truck driven by 64 year old George Korfe of Long Prairie, MN was traveling north on Highway 63 when he rear-ended a dump truck driven by 57 year old Mark Ackerson of Sumner. Korfe was life-flighted to Mayo in Rochetser. Agencies that assisted at the scene included the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office, Tripoli Fire and Ambulance, Frederika Fire and First Responders, Iowa DOT, Iowa State Patrol and Rasmusson’s Towing.

2 Vehicle Crash on Hi-63

Posted by scottsuhr on On Friday at 10:03 the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Hwy 63 and 160 th St. A dump truck pulling a dump trailer driven by Mark Ackerson, 57 of Sumner was traveling northbound on Hwy 63 and turning east onto 160 th St. A semi and tanker trailer driven by Gregory Korfe, 64 of Long Prairie, MN was also traveling northbound on Hwy 63 and rear-ended Ackerson. Korfe was transported to Rochester, MN by AirCare. Northbound lanes of Hwy 63 remained closed for approximately 4 hrs. The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Tripoli Fire Department, Tripoli Ambulance, Frederika Fire Department, Frederika First Responders, Iowa DOT, Iowa State Patrol, AirCare and Rasmusson’s Towing.
