State Board of Education weighs rule to keep teachers from indoctrinating students

State Board of Education weighs rule to keep teachers from indoctrinating students Bailey Gallion, Florida Today Replay Video UP NEXT The Florida Board of Education will consider a rule to prevent public school teachers from “indoctrinating” students, a move teachers’ unions have opposed. The proposed rule states that “instruction on the required topics must be factual and objective and may not suppress or distort significant historical events, such as the Holocaust, and may not define American history as something other than the creation of a new nation based largely on universal principles stated in the Declaration of Independence.” © Bob Self/Florida Times-Union

Letters and feedback: May 15, 2021 Florida Today Board kicks mask issue, like can, down the road Once again, the Brevard County School Board is late to the party. While other school districts like Seminole, Pasco, Lake, Flagler, Escambia and Pinellas have already made a decision on whether there will be a mask mandate in their schools starting this fall, our school board continues to drag its feet on making a decision. No matter where you stand on this issue, parents need time to enroll their children in alternative learning options if they see fit based on this decision. Yet despite all the data that s available, our school board members refuse to even hold a vote and continue to kick the can down the road.
