ADEN, Dec 31 Saudi-led coalition warplanes struck targets in Yemen’s Houthi-held capital Sanaa today in retaliation for attacks in the southern port city of Aden the previous day that took place as officials in a government backed by Riyadh arrived there.
The coalition accused the Houthi movement, which it has been fighting for six years, of staging the attack on Aden’s airport and a second one on the presidential palace.

TEHRAN, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) Iran s Foreign Ministry on Thursday condemned the deadly attacks that targeted Aden s airport in southern Yemen. Continued foreign aggression and the occupation of Yemeni soil are the key contributors to instability, as well as a lack of order and law enforcement, and have jeopardized Yemen s territorial integrity, spokesman of Iran s Foreign Ministry Saeed Khatibzadeh said in a statement.
The spokesman expressed condolences to the victims of the attack and asked all parties to end the conflict by returning to political negotiations.
On Wednesday, three explosions struck Aden s airport, killing at least 22, when officials and employees gathered to welcome the new Yemeni cabinet s members.

At least 13 people were killed and dozens more wounded in an attack on Aden airport on Wednesday moments after a plane landed carrying a newly formed Saudi-backed cabinet for government-held parts of Yemen.
Loud blasts and gunfire were heard at the airport shortly after the plane arrived from Riyadh, witnesses said. Two security sources gave the toll of casualties. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
