11 GOP Senators: Xavier Becerra Unfit for HHS Secretary

22 Feb 2021 Eleven Senate Republicans wrote to President Joe Biden Monday, urging the 46th president to withdraw California Attorney General Xavier Becerra’s nomination to serve as the next secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS). The Republican senators wrote that Becerra’s embrace of Medicare for All, open borders policies on immigration, and abortion, render him unfit to serve as the next HHS secretary. Sens. Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Tom Cotton (R-AR), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Steve Daines (R-MT), John Kennedy (R-LA), James Lankford (R-OK), Mike Lee (R-UT), Jim Risch (R-ID), Mike Rounds (R-SD), and Roger Wicker (R-MS) wrote to Biden:

Sen. Todd Young is attempting to position himself as someone willing to work with any administration for the good of Hoosiers, in the midst of an inner-party fight. Meanwhile, Young had some choice words about Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on a press call Tuesday. He also discussed his thoughts on the future of the party.  There is a question about whether our party is going to be a party that is grounded in resentment and anxiety and fear, Young said.  Or if instead we re going to be an aspirational party.

What Sen Todd Young said about meeting President Joe Biden to discuss COVID-19 relief

Indiana U.S. Sen. Todd Young was among a group of 10 Republican Senators who met with President Joe Biden Monday afternoon, urging him to compromise on his plans for COVID-19 relief. Senate Republicans remain unconvinced that Biden s proposed $1.9 trillion economic boost is the right approach to help the struggling economy, largely balking at the price tag. Young and nine other Republicans detailed their counter proposal, which includes about two-third less funding, in a two-hour meeting with Biden. After the meeting, Young told the media the president is to be credited for his response to the Republican senators proposal. The tone was respectful, Young said. We exchanged views and perspectives and sourced the evidentiary materials that we were using to justify our arguments. And I think we found some common ground in some areas, and there are other areas that remain open to negotiation.
