Rawlings’ funeral postponed
The funeral rites of the late former president, Jerry John Rawlings has been postponed.
The funeral rites were scheduled for Wednesday, December 23, 2020, but a statement from the office of the former president said “The office of the former President Jerry John Rawlings informs the general public that his funeral will no longer take place on Wednesday, December 23, 2020
The press statement issued and signed by Kobina Andoh Amoakwa of the Communications Directorate of the former president said “A new date will be communicated to the public in due course.The inconvenience to all who had made prior arrangements for the funeral ceremony is deeply regretted .

The Paramount Chief of the Tefle Traditional Area of the Volta Region, Togbe Nakakpo Dugbaza VIII has appealed for the remains of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings to be buried on his (Rawlings’) property at Tefle.
According to him, the former President while he was alive once expressed the desire to be buried at his property at Tefle.
In a statement signed and issued on Thursday, December 17, 2020, which was addressed to the “Funeral Committee and Family members, Children and the Widow Nana Konady Agyeman Rawlings,” he appealed that the late Ex-President should be buried on his property at Tefle.

The funeral rites of Ghana’s former President John Rawlings, which was scheduled for Dec. 23, has been postponed, local media reported on Thursday.
“The office of the former President Jerry John Rawlings informs the general public that his funeral will no longer take place on Wednesday, December 23, 2020,” according to Graphic news agency.
“A new date will be communicated to the public in due course. The inconvenience to all who had made prior arrangements for the funeral ceremony is deeply regretted,” Graphic quoted the statement as reading.
Rawlings died at the age of 73 on Nov. 12. He spent nearly a week at a hospital in the capital Accra.
