As vice president, Mr. Biden served as something of a Mitch McConnell whisperer for former President Barack Obama, cutting deals with the Senate majority leader on major tax and spending bills.
The two spoke this week, and Mr. Biden said he’s heard from a handful of Republican senators who say they’re ready to work together on infrastructure and foreign policy.
“I may eat these words, but I predict to you as Donald Trump’s shadow fades away, you’re going to see an awful lot change,” he said.
During the presidential primary, liberal activists dismissed such calls and predictions. They said Democrats needed a bare-knuckle brawler to confront and eviscerate the GOP after four years of Mr. Trump.
“If not,” Mr. Schroder said in the Parler post, “…I will March on the Communist Capitol Inaugural Event to Demand Election Security for 2020 and all future Elections.”
Mr. Trump decisively lost his race for reelection, as the Electoral College affirmed two days before Mr. Schroder’s post, so the actor should be protesting Mr. Biden’s victory provided he follows through.
In the post, Mr. Schroder, 50, alleged the nation’s election system is untrustworthy and suggested the incoming Biden administration is in cahoots with China and unspecified corporate entities.
“The Biden/Harris/Obama/China/Corporate Alliance will not take Power,” Mr. Schroder posted. “We do not give it to them We retain it.”
“I hear some people say it down here in Georgia, if you are frustrated about the last election, just don’t vote,” Mr. Pence told the hundreds in the attendance, many of whom waited in the bitter cold hours to see him. “My fellow Americans, I say from my heart, if you don’t vote, they win.”
“So for all we’ve done and all we’ve had yet to do, for our president, for our future, for Georgia and for America, cast a vote for all that President Trump has accomplished. Cast a vote to send David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler back to Washington, D.C.,” he said.
WASHINGTON â President-elect Joseph R. Biden will nominate Jennifer M. Granholm, a former governor of Michigan and a longtime champion of renewable energy development, to be the next secretary of energy, according to four people close to the president-electâs transition team.

As 2020 stumbles to a conclusion, the Death Penalty Information Center, in an annual survey released on Dec. 16, found much that was notable (Colorado became the 22nd state to abolish capital punishment) and much that was regrettable: The federal government made an aggressive return to the application of the death penalty after an informal moratorium of 17 years.
The Trump administration, in fact, was responsible for 60 percent of the nation’s total executions in 2020, thanks to an execution spree in the second half of the year that was without precedent and widely condemned. The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops was among the institutions and advocates that repeatedly urged a halt to the federal executions.
