Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with Mark Milley, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Presidential Palace, late on Wednesday.
In this meeting First-Vice President Amrullah Saleh, NSA Hamdullah Mohib, Chief of Army Staff Mohammad Yasin Zia, AOP Director General Fazel Fazly, chargé d’affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, General Commander of the Resolute Support Mission General Scott Miller were present.
In the meeting, both sides expressed their concerns over the escalation of violence in Afghanistan and discussed the Afghan peace process and the immediate need for a ceasefire in the country.
President Ghani Leaves Kabul for Kandahar

Kandahar (BNA) President Ghani headed a delegation left Kabul for Kandahar this morning.
The main purpose of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani’s visit to Kandahar is to study the security situation, the process of development, reconstruction and governance.
Osman Barakat, BNA correspondent in Kandahar reported that during his trip to Kandahar, the president has scheduled to meet with tribal elders, civil society activists, businesswomen and women’s rights activists, Islamic scholars, and civilian and military officials.
Dawad Khan Minapal, deputy spokesman of president said that during his visit, the president would closely monitor the process of reconstruction, development and governance, as well as the security situation in Kandahar.

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, in phone conversations with the families of the ANDSF fallen heroes in various provinces here yesterday morning lauded them for their sense of patriotism, commitment and dedication to their homeland and pledged to address their needs.
President Ghani, as quoted in the presidential press office statement, also talked to some of the ANDSF officers on duty at the front lines and thanked them for the valor and commitment to protect their people and country.
The President called them the heroes of Afghanistan and expressed his gratitude to the families of fallen ones.

The Institute of War and Peace Studies found optimism had dropped to 57 percent when the survey was conducted from Sept. 29 to Oct. 18. That’s down from 86 percent of those surveyed according to the previous assessment conducted over the summer and released in August.
