Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has arrived in Dhaka to join celebration of golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence and the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8:25am today (Wednesday) on a two-day official visit as the first South Asian leaders to attend the celebrations.
On his arrival, President Abdul Hamid has received him at the airport. Abdul Hamid is accompanied by his wife at the airport
Bangladesh Foreign Minister, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Law Minister and Maldives high commissioner in Dhaka are present at the airport to receive the president.

The nation has started to celebrate golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence and the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman through various programmes Wednesday morning.
The celebration started with 101 gun salutes by the military at National Parade Square in the old airport area of Dhaka.

Dhaka is set to welcome the high-level dignitaries, who will visit in person, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Nepalese President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
As per the schedule, the Maldives president will visit Bangladesh on March 17-18, the Sri Lankan premier on March 19-20, the Nepal president on March 22-23 and the Indian premier on March 26-27.
