Tortorella, Blue Jackets agree to part ways
John Tortorella s time in Columbus is over. The Blue Jackets announced Sunday that Tortorella and the team have mutually agreed to part ways. The Athletic s Aaron Portzline reported late Saturday night the 62-year-old was choosing to move on when his contract expires this offseason.

OLUMBUS, Ohio John Tortorella is out as coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets after six seasons.
General manager Jarmo Kekalainen said in a statement Sunday that parting ways with the winningest coach in franchise history was a mutual decision.
The 62-year-old Tortorella was in the last year of his contract, and the separation wasn t a surprise after a tumultuous season that saw the Blue Jackets plunge to last place in their division amid the coach s admitted failure to influence the team culture.

After having a day off to lick their wounds from Monday night’s defeat, the Blueshirts are back in action tonight. The reigning Presidents Trophy winners are in town, as Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand, and the rest of the Boston Bruins are coming into Madison Square Garden.
After a dominant regular season that ended in a Divisional Finals playoff defeat to the eventual Stanley Cup winning Tampa Bay Lightning, the Bruins have picked up right where they left off. The team has only one regulation loss through their first 11 games, and are currently third in the league with an .818 points percentage (8-1-2 record).
