Before the informal EU summit in Porto, Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis appealed to the leaders of the European Union to expel at least one Russian diplomat from their countries in solidarity with Prague amid worsening of its relations with Moscow, Interfax reports, citing Czech radio.
On April 17, the Czech Republic announced the expulsion of 18 Russian diplomats, accusing Moscow of involvement in the 2014 explosion at an ammunition depot in Vrbetice. Two people were killed in the explosion. On April 22, the Czech Republic once again announced that it was reducing the staff of the Russian diplomatic mission. Slovakia, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia followed suit.

The presidents of France and Russia have agreed to renew the efforts within the OSCE Minsk Group towards achieving a stable settlement of the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), the French ambassador in Armenia has said.
According to Jonathan Lacôte, concrete initiatives to that effect are expected in the nearest future. The diplomat made the remark in response to an inquiry by ARMENPRESS, commenting on a recent telephone conversation between Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia and Emmanuel Macron of France.

Russian, Turkish military conduct join patrol in northeast Syria

AL-HASAKAH /Syria/, May 1. /TASS/. Russian and Turkish servicemen have conducted a joint patrol mission in Syria’s northeast, along the longest-ever route exceeding 100 km in total, convoy commander Col. Andrei Titov told TASS. Today, a joint Russian-Turkish patrol mission from the Sheyrek crossing was completed. The patrol’s route was extended to include more populated areas. The mission proceeded in normal regime, the personnel and the equipment fulfilled their objectives. In the majority of towns and villages, people greeted the convoy, Titov said.
