Buhari, in a video goodwill message to the Ehingbeti Lagos Economic Summit, said his administration recognised Lagos as central to the economic fortunes of Nigeria and had demonstrated commitment to supporting it to attain its full socio-economic potential. The three-day event with the theme: “Greater Lagos: Setting the Tone for the Next Decade,” is facilitated by the organised private sector in partnership with by the state government.

FG to support massive investments in Lagos – Buhari

By Rukayat Moisemhe and Florence Onuegbu Lagos, Feb. 16, 2021 President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday pledged that the Federal Government would support massive investments in Lagos State to boost its economic potential as one of the world’s fastest growing megacities. Buhari made the pledge in a virtual goodwill message during the Lagos Economic Summit (Ehingbeti) 2021 themed: ”For a Greater Lagos: Setting the Tone for the Next Decade”. He said that his administration recognised Lagos as central to the economic fortunes of Nigeria and had in the last few years demonstrated commitment to supporting it to unleash its full socio-economic potential. According to him, one of the significant ways in which the Federal Government’s support has manifested to Lagos State is in the special federal funding that was approved in 2020 in acknowledgement of the state being an epicentre of the coronavirus pandemic.

Minister: Buhari Working to Bridge Infrastructure Gap

Emmanuel Addeh The Minister of State, Works and Housing, Mr. Abubakar Aliyu, has said that investment in infrastructure such as roads and housing would bring prosperity to Nigerians. According to the minister, when summed up, all the ongoing works on Nigerian roads started by previous administrations, showed that President Muhammadu Buhari is keen on bridging the infrastructure gap of the nation, especially by completing abandoned projects instead of starting new ones. He said: “This government is investing massively in infrastructure development of our roads and housing sector either by direct budgetary funding or through other means, be it SUKUK, Tax Credit Initiative or the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund.”
