Idriss Deby-Itno died on the frontline while defending the territorial integrity of his country. The Nigerian leader, who declared the one-day summit open in his capacity as the Chair of leaders of LCBC member-countries, rallied development partners and countries particularly France, the United States, and the United Kingdom to support the transition regime in Chad. He also urged Germany, the Netherlands, and Russia; the United Nations, the African Union and the European Union, as well as other friendly and partner nations to support the transition framework put in place by Chad’s Transition Military Council led by General Mahamat Idriss Deby.

The leaders would be discussing the growing security threats in Sahel and Lake Chad region, political relations and economic ties as well as the situation in Chad.

President Muhammadu Buhari has summoned an extraordinary summit of Heads of State and Government of Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that other sub-regional leaders participating in the summit include the Presidents of Niger Republic, Mohamed Bazoum and Central African Republic, Faustin Touadera.
Others are Mahamat Idriss Deby, President of the Transitional Military Council of the Republic of Chad, while Cameroon’s President Paul Bryan, was represented at the meeting.

The new Chairman of the Presidential Council of Libya, Mohamed Al-Menfi, on Sunday discussed granting confidence to the new government with the Speaker of the Tobruk-based House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh.
Al-Menfi said in a tweet: I had a meeting with the Speaker of Parliament, Aguila Saleh, to discuss the importance of the role of Parliament at this stage.
The official added that he discussed creating the necessary conditions for granting confidence to the government of national unity, so that it can achieve its goals, starting with the unification of institutions, in order to alleviate the suffering of citizens and achieve security and stability in the country.
