Ensure JUSUN Strike Ends Soon, Buhari Directs Ngige, Gambari

By Deji Elumoye President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday gave a marching order to both the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, and his Chief of Staff, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, to ensure that the strike embarked upon by members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) ends before long. JUSUN had on April 4, 2021 embarked on an industrial action to protest the non-implementation of financial autonomy for the judicial arm of government in the 36 states of the federation. The president has therefore directed Ngige, Gambari and other stakeholders to ensure that they resolve the problem with JUSUN, so that the ongoing strike will be called off.

Punch Newspapers Sections Published 9:48 pm The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, on Friday, said state governors on the platform of the Nigeria Governors Forum altered some parts of the agreement they reached on Monday with other stakeholders on the implementation of financial autonomy for state legislature and the judiciary, hence the lingering industrial action by members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria. He said the affected areas of the agreement were fundamental in terms of the execution of Sections 83 and 162 of Executive Order 10. Ngige disclosed this in an interview with State House correspondents after a meeting he had with the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Vanguard News JUSUN insists Judiciary funds must be deducted directly from source by AGF On Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) on Thursday insisted that each state must implement its self-accounting law in dealing with Internally Generated Revenue. JUSUN, in a statement issued by its General Secretary, I. M. Adetola, in Kaduna, said:”each state should implement its self-accounting law or Fund Management law in dealing with IGR also known as state consolidated fund, in accordance with Section 121(3) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic Nigeria as amended. ”The states that have not yes signed the Bill into law should do so without delay.” JUSUN said
