PARAÑAQUE CITY, Jan. 17 (PIA) Today marks the 100-day countdown to the 2021 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines (2021 QCP). Central in these commemorations is the 500th anniversary of the Victory at Mactan on 27 April 2021 (the reckoning date of the countdown).
The Lapu-Lapu City Government kicks-off the countdown at the Lapulapu Monument, Liberty Shrine, Mactan in Lapu-Lapu City in the morning.
Highlight of the event is the declaration of the shrine as a site of the permanent display of the Philippine flag through the NHCP Board Resolution No. 10, s. 2020.
Event guests include Office of the Presidential Adviser in the Visayas Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino, Philippine Information Agency Director-General Ramon Cualoping III, Lapu-Lapu City Lone District Representative Paz Radaza, Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, and Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan.

CALOOCAN CITY, Jan. 15 (PIA) Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar today assured that the PCOO and its attached agencies will continue to deliver relevant and timely information to the public, adapting to the new normal way of disseminating it.
Andanar said that the Laging Handa briefings, which stood to the needs of the public to be informed, will continue to air and address concerns and questions on policies and programs of the government, especially during the persistent coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
“Ngayong 2021 ay patuloy pa ring bibigyang prayoridad ng PCOO ang Laging Handa Information and Communications Campaign,” he said.

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said queries about international travel restrictions caused by COVID-19 have more than doubled in 2020 compared to 2019.
Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said the BI National Operations Center (BINOC) attended and answered some 120,000 queries received via hotlines, email, and social media.
The BI chief said the number of queries rose by about 141 percent compared to the 2019 total.
According to the BI chief, the bulk of the queries were received after the country was placed on lockdown starting in March in a bid to minimize the spread of the deadly disease.
Morente said most of the queries were sent via emails.
