Colombo (News 1st); 04 Attorney filed a complaint with the Chief Justice today requesting for an investigation to determine if the final recommendation of the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry probing incidents of Political Victimization, caused contempt of court.
The complaint seeks an inquiry to determine whether the recommendations of the Presidential Commission appointed to look into alleged political victimization between January 8, 2015, and November 19, 2019, have caused a breach of justice and contempt of court, as well as damage to the judiciary and civil liberties.

Sri Lankan Catholics have been requested to attend Sunday church service countrywide on March 7, dressed in black as a sign protest against the failure to apprehend the real culprits of the Easter Sunday carnage by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry.
Rev. Fr. Victor Jayamanne, Parish Priest of Dalugama Church said that the decision to conduct the protest had been taken with the concurrence of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Sri Lanka and Colombo Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith.
The Bishops’ Conference has decided to launch a series of countrywide protests seeking justice for the victims of the Easter Sunday terror attacks.

An open letter by 20 eminent persons to the 46th session of the Human Rights Council called on the international community to take immediate steps towards justice and accountability to end Sri Lankaâs continuing cycles of violence.
The recently released report on Sri Lanka by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights underlines, yet again, the countryâs lack of progress on justice and accountability. Based largely on an analysis of emerging trends, it makes a compelling case for decisive international action to ensure justice and accountability for mass human rights violations and atrocities in Sri Lanka as a central element of the search for sustained reconciliation and the prevention of the recurrence of rights abuses and conflict.
