Coalition Urges Congress Not to Expand Domestic Terrorism Charges
151 Organizations Call on Congress to Oppose the Expansion of Terrorism-related Legal Authority
January 19, 2021
Dear Members of Congress:
On behalf of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights (The Leadership Conference), a coalition charged by its diverse membership of more than 220 national organizations to promote and protect civil and human rights in the United States, and the undersigned
151 organizations, we write to express our deep concern regarding proposed expansion of terrorism-related legal authority. We must meet the challenge of addressing white nationalist and far-right militia violence without causing further harm to communities already disproportionately impacted by the criminal-legal system. The Justice Department (DOJ), including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), has over 50 terrorism-related statutes it can use to investigate and prosecute criminal conduct, including white

More than 180,000 people have stopped identifying with the Presbyterian Church (USA) in the past four years, according to official church numbers. Now there’s one more: President Donald Trump.
Trump told Religion News Service last week in a written interview mediated by spiritual advisor Paula White-Cain that he doesn’t consider himself to be Presbyterian. He was confirmed in the church and has called himself Presbyterian numerous times over the years. But no more.
“I now consider myself to be a non-denominational Christian,” Trump said in the statement. “Melania and I have gotten to visit some amazing churches and meet with great faith leaders from around the world. During the unprecedented COVID-19 outbreak, I tuned into several virtual church services and know that millions of Americans did the same.”

LOUISVILLE â With Palm Sunday just nine weeks away, churches are encouraged to turn their thoughts to Eco-Palms by March 5, the deadline to order fronds.
In 2020, more than 1,000 Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) congregations ordered Eco-Palms, an environmentally friendly product that benefits communities in Guatemala. The Presbyterian Hunger Program (PHP) hopes demand will be strong this year, too.
âWe believe in the empowering work that it (the Eco-Palms project) does, allowing people who work the hardest to provide for themselves to reap the benefit from that,â said Jessica Maudlin Phelps, Associate for Sustainable Living and Earth Care Concerns for PHP. âThis project allows the harvesters, as well as the congregations that are participating in Eco-Palms, to protect the health of the forest, local jobs and su
Congregations: Give to D504894 for Bill and Ann Mooreâs sending and support
Churches are asked to send donations through your congregationâs normal receiving site (this is usually your presbytery)
Dear friends,
When we are not visiting other congregations in Japan related to partner denominations of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), our church home is the Ashia Reformed Church, a short drive from our apartment in Kobe. It is a very warm and welcoming congregation, and over the years, we have enjoyed getting to know its members. Our elder son and daughter were both married there, and when necessary, Bill fills the pulpit, so we consider it to be our home church.
Why Reproductive Rights Matter to the U.S. Business Community
Ruth Shaber, MD.
The landmark U.S Supreme Court decision
Roe v. Wade is celebrating its 48th anniversary this month. If the Supreme Court continues to erode its protections and others related to reproductive rights, the map of abortion availability in the U.S. is certain to change dramatically. Twenty-four states are likely to outlaw abortion entirely. With five states already down to one abortion clinic, millions more women would be living hundreds of miles away from abortion providers.
American corporations should be very concerned.
Recognizing the value that gender diversity brings to performance and profitability, companies have invested millions to attract, develop and retain female talent. Strengthening fertility and maternal health benefits has been one increasingly popular means to this end, continuing an upward trend even during the current economic downturn.
