Etta man charged with kidnapping
Investigators say a man from Union County kidnapped a teenage girl in Prentiss County.

BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - A grand jury will hear the case against a 21-year-old man accused of kidnapping a teenage girl.
Prentiss County Sheriff Randy Tolar says investigators charged Jaylon Corrothers, 21, of Etta, on Feb. 1 with kidnapping.

He allegedly took a 14-year-old girl without permission.
The sheriff did not provide further details about the investigation.
Etta is a community in Union County.

Authorities looking for missing Prentiss County boy
BOONEVILLE - Authorities are asking for the public s help to locate a missing Prentiss County boy.
The Prentiss County Sheriffâs Office said Raylee Norris, 15, left his grandmother s Jumpertown residence Jan. 20 around 11:30 p.m.
Anyone who has seen him or knows of his whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers 1-800-773-8477 or the Prentiss County Sheriff s Office at 662-728-6232.
⢠Officials are currently searching for a Prentiss County prisoner erroneously released Tuesday afternoon.
According to Prentiss County Sheriff Randy Tolar, Shaun Franklin Reed, 34, of Booneville, appeared in Prentiss County Justice Court Jan. 5 and was given credit for time served on several misdemeanor charges.
âWhen he was returned to the jail from court, he was mistakenly released, even though he has several felony charges pending,â Tolar said.
Reed is described as a 6-foot-3-inch white male who weighs 195 pounds. He was wearing a gray T-shirt and blue jeans when he left the jail. He has ties to the Booneville and Alcorn County areas. Among the charges he is facing are assaulting a police officer, felony drug charges and jail escape.

Sheriff Randy Tolar said the inmate is now back in custody today.
Deputies and Mississippi Highway Patrol arrested him on Highway 145 north of Booneville.

PRENTISS COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) - Prentiss County deputies are looking for an inmate who was released from the Prentiss County Jail today.
Shaun Reed, 34, went to court and got credit for time served on several misdemeanor charges earlier in the day.
BOONEVILLE - The Booneville Police Department is asking for the public s help to locate a Booneville girl who has gone missing for the second time in two weeks.
Shelby Baswell, 17, is described as a white female with blond hair and blue eyes. She is approximately 5 3 tall and weighs about 110 pounds.
She was last seen at a residence in the east Booneville area on Christmas night and was last heard from early on the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 29.
When Baswell disappeared Sunday Dec. 21, the Prentiss County Sheriff s Office reported her missing, saying she might be in the New albany area. Prentiss County Sheriff Randy Tolar said she was found around noon two days later.
