Vaccines being prepared for first Bracknell clinic in the fight back against coronavirus PATIENTS in Bracknell have been welcomed today to the first Covid vaccine clinic set up in the town. Bracknell and Ascot health services joined forces to launch the clinic that will provide the vaccine to help protect locals from coronavirus. The clinic threw open its doors today at the Sports and Leisure Centre of Waitrose HQ. The site in Willoughby Road, Bracknell, is usually used for Waitrose staff but has been out of action since the start of the pandemic. As such, today health professionals moved in and launched the milestone clinic in the battle back against Covid-19.
HEALTH staff in Somerset picked up a hat-trick of national awards in recognition of the amazing work they are doing to improve care for vulnerable people in our communities. Anna Alves was crowned as the winner of the Public Health England Antibiotic Awards, Sally Farmer was named as winner of the Covid Hero award at CD Awards (Chemist and Druggist publication) and Kate Jones won GP Pharmacist of the Year, at the PCPA (Prime Care Pharmacy Awards). Somerset Foundation Trust picked up a prestigious Antibiotic Guardian Award, led by Public Health England recently on behalf of NHS Somerset CCG and GP Practices in Somerset for their work to tackle antimicrobial resistance.
The rollout of the Covid-19 vaccination is continuing across Buckinghamshire this week - with elderly residents in Princes Risborough being prioritised. The first Covid vaccination site came to the county on Monday, December 14, in Chalfont St Peter, with 90-year-old Brian Horne the first to receive the Pfizer/BioNTech jab. Now, GP-led Primary Care Networks in Princes Risborough and Winslow are starting to vaccinate local patients aged 80 and over. As well as people aged 80 and over, care home staff are also being prioritised in this first phase of the national vaccination rollout - in line with the national Joint Committee of Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) prioritisation programme.

People need to be particular and treat everyone as if they have coronavirus to prevent it from spreading, a senior health official has said.
West Berkshire moved from Tier 2 to the new Tier 4 at the weekend following a rapid increase in cases, coinciding with a new strain of the virus rapidly spreading across the south east.
Director of Public Health Berkshire West Meradin Peachey said there was a combination of the new strain and changing behaviour behind the increase in cases across the South East.
