Almost 250,000 vaccines given in north Cumbria
NHS England figures show that 246,144 vaccines had been administered by Thursday.
That is 181,458 first vaccines and 64,686 second vaccines â delivered through primary care teams, hospital hubs, community pharmacies and the Penrith Auction Mart vaccination centre.
Teams are currently providing the second dose to those who were called early in the programme â mainly those over 80, those in care homes, and frontline NHS and social care staff.
This is mainly happening at Primary Care Network (PCN) hubs which can handle large numbers of patients receiving the Pfizer vaccine (which requires specialist handling).
There are also a range of bookable options now available which can be accessed through the National Booking Service

Starting April 19, 10 physician clinics across the province will participate in a pilot project to administer COVID-19 vaccines to eligible patients. Based on the learnings from this pilot, the program will expand to include more clinics in May.
“Since the start of the pandemic, community physicians have worked hard to support and protect their patients. This pilot is another step forward. Albertans will now have another way to receive their COVID-19 vaccines from an important part of our health-care system. We’re aiming to expand this pilot to many, many more physician clinics as soon as possible.”

Prince William holds ‘emotional’ call with nurse who joined Covid bubble with terminally ill girl Robert Jobson
The Duke of Cambrdige has held an “emotional” call with a nurse who formed a bubble with the family of a terminally ill girl to protect them from Covid-19 last summer.
Prince William spoke to Jenny Manson, 54, one of more than 300 healthcare workers he has called across the UK since the start of 2021.
Jenny, a community children’s nurse from Kirkcudbright in Dumfries and Galloway, told the duke how she had cared for nine-year-old Holly Clarke at her home.
She joined the Covid bubble so the child’s parents Richard and Stevie, her twin sister Becca and older sister Emily could spend their last precious months with her before her death in October.
Masjid E Saliheen in Blackburn (Picture LT) Covid vaccinations will be offered in a Blackburn mosque for the first time. A pop-up vaccination clinic will take place on Saturday 10 April between 10am-1pm at the Masjid E Saliheen on Didsbury Street, Blackburn. Members of the mosque are working in partnership with NHS Blackburn with Darwen Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), Blackburn with Darwen Council and Lancashire Council of Mosques (LCM) to offer coronavirus vaccinations to eligible local people. These include people over the age of 50, or in an “at-risk” clinically vulnerable group over 16, health and social care workers and carers who have not already had their first jab.
