The Congress party in Karnataka on Friday announced that it has prepared a ₹100 crore plan to procure vaccines directly from manufacturers and administer them to the people.
Addressing a joint press conference, Congress party state president D K Shivakumar and Leader of the Opposition and Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said “Since the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre and Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa-led state government have collectively failed to vaccinate the masses. Here, we want to step in to do it ourselves.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 12 (ANI): In a sharp attack at the Centre over its handling of the COVID-19 situation in the country, Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole on Wednesday said that the Supreme Court should form a parallel Central government to tackle the crisis.
Addressing a press conference in Mumbai, Patole said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre has failed to protect the country from the pandemic.

An RTI has revealed that despite the Covid-19 pandemic, ceasefire violations along the India-Pakistan border were highest in 2020. The year 2020 witnessed 4,645 violations, which equates to nearly 12.7 violations a day.
Between January 1 and February 16 this year, there have already been 524 ceasefire violations along the border, which is more than 11 violations a day.
The RTI was filed by Pune-based activist Prafful Sarda. In the last seven years under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government, there have been 11,424 ceasefire violations along the India-Pakistan border. However, between 2004 and 2013, there had been only 523 ceasefire violations.
