St Martin News Network - Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs updates Parliament on 3rd tranche of liquidity support agreements with BZK

Published: 14 December 2020 ~ Receives support from the majority of Parliament ~ PHILIPSBURG: -Today, Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs updated the Parliament of St. Maarten on the outcome of the negotiations with the Ministry of Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK) surrounding the third tranche of liquidity support to gain the level of support needed to be able to proceed. Over the past six weeks, St. Maarten’s negotiation team has been in discussions with BZK in order to come to agreements on the third tranche of liquidity support. These negotiations mainly included agreements on the structural reform packages where there were possibilities for improving the administrative branch and the country as a whole. St. Maarten’s concerns were thoroughly addressed and discussed and as such, the negotiations have come to an end for the 3rd tranche of liquidity support.

St. Maarten: Parliament approval needed before Dutch sign agreement on liquidity PHILIPSBURG, THE HAGUE - Before an agreement can be signed between the governments in The Hague and Philipsburg about the third tranche of liquidity support and the Caribbean Entity for Reform and Development COHO, the Dutch Cabinet requires explicit approval of the deal by St. Maarten’s Parliament. This is the stance of Dutch State Secretary of Home Affairs and Kingdom Relations Raymond Knops in a series of letters exchanged with Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs over the weekend. According to the letters, the two countries hope to reach an agreement in the Kingdom Council of Ministers meeting on Friday, December 18.

Published: 14 December 2020 ~UPP, PFP, and NA supports the signing of agreement and COHO  PHILIPSBURG: - The coalition partners that are supporting the government of St. Maarten give the Prime Minister of St. Maarten its blessings in the form of a verbal declaration to go ahead and sign the COHO law. The leader of the UPP faction was the first to give the Prime Minister the declaration State Secretary Raymond Knops wants when he demanded that she gets such prior to the December 18 th meeting. UPP supports the signing of COHO Law. After making her position known, the UPP MP and Faction Leader Grisha Heyliger Marten gave the declaration that the State Secretary Raymond Knops is looking for, thereby Heyliger Martin then said “ I am sure of our Prime Minister of St. Maarten, the Honorable Silveria Jacobs, who I believe is with her back against the wall with the proverbial knee on her neck by the Dutch government and their representative State Secretary Raymond Knops,
