British Prime Minster Boris Johnson underlined his unwavering support for the island of Jersey and ordered Royal Navy vessels to patrol the waters off the Channel Island, amid an escalating dispute between the United Kingdom and France over post-Brexit fishing arrangements.
French fishing vessels arrived in the Jersey port of St Helier on Thursday to protest over lack of access to British fishing grounds, with French trawler crews angry at restrictions issued by the island under a system launched last week, British and French media reported.
The boss of British Airways has urged the Government to implement so-called travel corridors as soon as possible as he unveiled another big loss at the aviation group.
Luis Gallego, the chief executive of IAG, which owns British Airways, Iberia and Aer Lingus, said people who have been vaccinated or tested should be able to travel without restrictions . We are ready to fly : Gallego said travel corridors should be implemented between countries with successful vaccination rollouts and effective testing such us the UK and the US . We believe that the Government needs to be a bit ambitious in getting global travel back on track and bring the benefits of all the efforts that the Government and people have done with the vaccination rollout, Gallego said.
